When budgeting for the coming year, or the remainder of this year, create an advertising budget amount. Remember that the larger the amount you can afford, the better your chances of getting your name out there.
Come up with an advertising plan by looking at what your competition is doing and where they are advertising. Identify your target market and determine the best way to reach them. Know your product. What you are selling will help you determine which media you should be buying.
Maximize your budget. You need to spend enough money on advertising to have an impact in the marketplace, but don't spend more than you can afford or you will be putting your business in jeopardy. You may not be able to advertise year-round. If you cannot afford to, then select the times of the year that are key to your product.
Creative services and production are areas where good writing and skillful execution in advertising techniques can save you money without sacrificing effectiveness.

Branding Your Company
Branding your business is essential. If you have not created a branded look for your business, it should be the next thing you do. Your materials, collateral pieces and all advertising should reflect your particular look and feel. Your clients should recognize it immediately, and others will begin to relate and recognize your branding.
If you don't have the creativity or knowledge to create a logo and materials with a professional look for your business, then let a designer assist you in this area. It is far better to spend money to create your brand and help you to become recognizable to your clients than spend the money on advertising without a consistent look and feel.
We all know that the economy is not great right now, but businesses are out there trying to compete. You can't afford not to advertise and market your business during these times. When business comes back and we have a better economy, the ones who continued to market and advertise will be at the top of their game and poised to take off.
